Acceptable Use Policy
ProtectedPets is for transparency and public accountability — never for targeting people.
This policy is part of, and incorporated into, our Terms of Service. It exists because ProtectedPets deliberately rejects the targeting-and-vigilantism model: we present official records for accountability, with no tools to find, reach, or act against any individual. Using the Service in a way that turns it toward targeting is strictly prohibited.
You may not use the Service to:
- Harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, or abuse any individual, or place any person in fear for their safety.
- Locate, surveil, or physically approach any individual, or attempt to determine a person’s home, workplace, school, or whereabouts.
- Contact any individual named in a record, or their family, employer, or associates, on the basis of information found here.
- Take or threaten action against any individual — confrontation, “naming and shaming,” doxxing, property damage, or any form of self-help or vigilante conduct.
- Encourage, organize, or incite others to do any of the above.
- Build or feed a targeting tool — combine, enrich, or cross-reference data from the Service with home addresses, phone numbers, or other contact data, or create any “near me,” alerting, or mapping feature directed at individuals.
- Bulk-extract or scrape the Service by automated means.
- Use the Service for any FCRA-governed purpose — employment, housing, credit, insurance, tenant, or other eligibility screening (see the Accuracy & Use Notice).
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in violation of any applicable anti-harassment, anti-stalking, anti-doxxing, or privacy law.
Why these limits exist
Some laws turn on the intent and effect of publishing information about a person — for example, inciting violence or harassment — not merely on whether each fact was public. Records here are provided for transparency and public accountability only. If you are looking to confront or act against a person, this is not the place, and that use is prohibited.
Consequences
We may suspend or terminate access for any violation, and we may refer conduct that threatens
another person’s safety to law enforcement. If you become aware of misuse, or believe a
record is being used to target someone, contact us at [abuse@protectedpets.org].
If you are named in a record
You can request a correction or removal through our correction and removal process — including for mistaken identity, dismissals, acquittals, overturned convictions, sealings, and expungements.
